IT-AS/ZNS3019

The Victorian "Residential Tenancies Regulation 2021" came into force on 29th of March 2021. It requires that all residential tenancies are verified every two years, by inspection and testing by a licensed electrician to determine whether the installation and all its constituent equipment is in a safe condition for continued use.

The rental provider, usually referred to as the landlord, is required to ensure that this has been carried out and keep records of the safety checks. The inspection and testing must be done to the requirements of Section 4 of AS/NZS 3019:2007 Electrical Installations - Periodic Verification.

The ESV recommends that a digital record of the inspection and testing is should be provided to the rental provider and kept by the licensed electrician.
